op ed review 10/22

THIS WEEK’S NEWS
The institutional media goal is to grind down Trump/Pence supporter enthusiasm (which is massive), and artificially inflate the narrative of enthusiasm for Clinton/Kaine (which does not exist). Within the reality we find the disconnect outlining the “rigged system”. Tim Kaine goes to Miami-Dade, a regional geography with millions of registered Democrat voters, to deliver a rally speech and less than 50 people show up: Remember, this is Miami Dade, Florida, “friendly territory”….Meanwhile, Mike Pence holds a rally in Virginia – in the rain – and 650+ people stand outside in the downpour to support the ticket and hear him deliver a passionate speech in Williamsburg.

“Something funny is happening in the major national polling department of this presidential race and no one’s talking about it. First, somehow the narrative seems to be developing that the polls show Clinton with a near insurmountable lead. Not so fast…There is a very large gap between Trump and Clinton’s current national standing, as revealed by CBS, NBC, ABC/Washington Post, on the one hand, versus the picture painted by three respected polling organizations that are not part of the propaganda wing of the Democratic Party, on the other.

WikiLeaks has released thousands of Clinton campaign emails. They revealed disdain for Catholics, secret links with journalists, collusion with the family foundation and against other Democrats, duplicitous political positions, campaign infighting and devastating evaluations of Clinton’s talents by her own campaign chief.

The media has gone quiet about sex scandals since this news broke: A fixer who claims he worked with Hillary and Bill Clinton from 1991 through 2008 says that he shut down rumors that Bill was having affairs with actress Markie Post and Mary Hart of ET  He paid a photographer $100,000 to get rid of photographs showing Bill with Post on a Hollywood lot.  Hillary had the fixer scrub the office of Vince Foster to remove documents pertaining to the Whitewater scandal This order allegedly came just two hours after Foster was found dead, with his death later ruled a suicide……Hillary Clinton is a secret sex freak who paid fixers to set up illicit romps with both men AND women..”

“I am coming forward now because of the endless attention the alleged indiscretions of Donald Trump have received. Nothing I have heard comes close to the sexual and moral corruption of the Clintons — many of which have yet to be revealed. Predictably, the liberal media is focusing on one man’s alleged misdeeds and ignoring another’s proven sins.”

Conventional journalistic wisdom holds that reporters and editors are referees on politics’ playing field — bastions of neutrality who mustn’t root for Team Red or Team Blue, either in word or deed. About 430 people who work in journalism have, through August, combined to give about $382,000 to the Democratic nominee, the Center for Public Integrity’s analysis indicates. About 50 identifiable journalists have combined to give about $14,000 to Trump.

Obama lied. The White House knew President Obama had emailed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email account…..Obama told CBS News in March 2015 he learned of Clinton’s private server the way basically all Americans did, “through news reports.”

Hillary Clinton’s security detail hated her so much that they privately snickered after she accidentally fell and broke her arm when she was secretary of state in 2009, one of her former guards told the Post.

Hillary Clinton told Goldman Sachs executives last year that Americans who want to limit immigration are “fundamentally un-American.” According to data from Pew Research Center, 83% of the American electorate would like to see immigration levels frozen or reduced.

What they really think:  “A remarkable moment took place Monday night, as a sitting justice of the Supreme Court of the United States expressed her fantasy of taking a baseball bat to Justice Scalia during sessions on the bench, if only one had been handy.”

COLUMN OF THE WEEK
Mark Steyn:
As I've said for years - on radio, TV and in print - for me the overriding issue in American politics is the corruption. In the Obama era, we have seen the remorseless merging of the party and the state - in the IRS, in the Justice Department and elsewhere. Whatever one feels about, say, Scandinavia, they at least come to their statism and socialism more or less honestly. Not so the United States.

It's bad enough that Democrats aren't agitated about this corruption - but then it works to their advantage. Slightly more mysterious is why so many of my friends on the right aren't incensed by it. For months, conservative commentators assured us that, when it comes to straight arrows, no arrow is straighter than FBI honcho James Comey - non-partisan, career public servant, will follow the evidence whereso'er it leads; why, "no one in law enforcement" is "more capable of navigating through a political maelstrom" and any attempts to politicize the outcome will ensure that "Comey will resign in protest, and other high-level FBI officials could follow him out the door".

All bollocks. Bollocks on stilts. Like everything else the Clintons touch, Comey's FBI is hopelessly corrupted - and certainly more corrupt than J Edgar Hoover's FBI, at least in the sense that Hoover was independent enough not to get rolled. The revelations of what happened reveal Comey to be a hack and a squish: he offered immunity to Hillary's aides not to facilitate his investigation but to obstruct any further investigation; he allowed witnesses to Hillary's crimes to serve as her "lawyers"; and he physically destroyed the evidence…….we now have a corrupt national law enforcement agency and a corrupt foreign ministry - willing, indeed, to subordinate national security and its own diplomatic policy to the personal needs of Hillary Clinton. Needless to say, if you get your news from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, etc, etc, you will be entirely unaware of all this. Which is the way they plan on operating for the next eight years.

A small but telling point: Wikileaks' Julian Assange has lived in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for over four years. But not until he leaked against Hillary was his Internet cut off. Hillary, out of office, has a swifter and more ruthless global reach than Hillary in office on the night of Benghazi. And, should she win, her view of her subjects is that we should have the same information access as Ecuadorian Embassy refugees.

In any society, the chief magistrate's first duty is to uphold the law, and throughout human history his easiest temptation, once in office, has been to regard himself as above it. In this case, the American people would be electing someone who, not yet in office, is already above the law, and way beyond it. That would be an extraordinary act, and Hillary and her cronies would be entirely justified in treating such an electorate with utter contempt.

As for today's impotent and ineffectual Republican establishment, they'll look like rock-ribbed steel-spined titans compared to the husks that will remain after two Hillary terms.

The corruption might not seem directly relevant to the rise of Donald Trump, but it's there, implicitly. The present arrangements work for the political class, the permanent bureaucracy, their client groups, and the lawless. But not for millions of the law-abiding. Consider illegal immigration, for example, which pre-Trump was entirely discussed in terms of the interests of the lawbreakers - how to "bring them out of the shadows", how to give them "a path to citizenship", celebrate their "family values" and "work ethic" - and never in terms of the law-abiding, whose wages they depress, whose communities they transform, and, in too many criminal cases, whose lives they wreck.

Trump is an unknown. But, to channel Donald Rumsfeld, Hillary is the most known known in the history of knowns. And what we know of her is that she's stinkingly corrupt, above the law, and able to suborn entire government agencies in the cause of her corruption. Where do you think we're gonna be after eight years of that?

Oh, and it will be eight years. The NeverTrumpers are saying, "Don't worry. We'll get it right in 2020", just like after 2012 they said, "Don't worry. We'll get it right in 2016", and after 2008 they said, "Don't worry. We'll get it right in 2012." Next time never comes. There are no tomorrows for the Republican Party, because, unlike the GOP, the Democrats use their victories very effectively….

Perhaps I'm touchy about the corruption because I'm a foreigner and I've lived in countries with clean government. Perhaps I'm sensitive to the contempt in which a put-upon middle-class is held because I've spent much of the last year in wealthy first-world countries (France, Sweden, Germany) that are on the verge of implosion over their delusional immigration policies. But the indifference from influential conservatives to both the despair and the naked corruption is deeply disturbing.

Think of what the last eight years have wrought - Obamacare, a weaponized IRS, six-figure fines for homophobic bakeries - and then pitch America forward to 2024. Picture the most absurd scenario you can concoct - say, a federal transgender-bathroom regime. Oh, no, wait, we've already got that.

The left is serious about power, and they don't waste time. The idea that the most personally corrupt candidate in modern American history will govern as some sort of benign moderate centrist placeholder until the wankers who thought Jeb Bush was a superstar shoo-in come up with their next inspiration is utterly preposterous.

Another important read:
“Ironically, the most far-reaching scheme to rig this and future American elections isn’t being plotted in the Kremlin. Nor is it being hammered out in K Street offices by lobbyists, Democratic operatives, and their press counterparts.  Instead, Democrats and their auxiliaries in the media routinely boast of their dream of turning America into a one-party state through changing who gets to vote in American elections.  Strikingly…….the dilution of the voting power of American citizens is praised lavishly as representing the highest value of “who we are as Americans.” To protest, or even to notice, the open machinations to adulterate the value of your vote by importing millions of foreigners to increase the numbers of votes cast for the Democrats brands you as a deplorable. The Democrats have enjoyed inviting the more narcissistic and naive GOP politicians, such as Lindsey Graham, John McCain, and Marco Rubio, to join them in promoting the Democrats’ attempts to rig future elections via “comprehensive immigration reform.” As the Democrats point out, the only way Republicans can prove to the onrushing millions of foreigners that Republicans aren’t irredeemable, racist haters on the wrong side of history is by helping the Democrats bring in even more future Democrats.”

FROM OTHER COLUMNS
"Forty-five percent of [millennials] polled between the ages of 16 and 20 years old said they would vote for a socialist, while 20 percent said they could vote for a communist. ... Even more shocking is ... that a third of millennials believe more people were killed under George W. Bush than Joseph Stalin, whose regime murdered 20 million people between 1924 and 1953. The total killed under all communist regimes (so far) is estimated at 100 million. ... The late Catholic Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen brilliantly summed up the problem with modern society more than a half-century ago; before it evolved into the morally chaotic nation we are today. He wrote, 'America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance — it is not. It is suffering from tolerance. Tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. Our country is not nearly so overrun with the bigoted as it is overrun with the broadminded.' ... These poll results ought to spur more parents to rescue their children from an education system that is failing them on many levels. Maybe a field trip to a communist country would cure millennials of their moral equivalence. They might start by visiting the prisons in Cuba."

“Democrats have been whining for 16 years, they are still writing articles about how Bush stole the elections in 2000 and 2004. So this holier than though attitude about, "this is the first time anyone has suggested that the election is not a sacrosanct process," it's a joke. So you guys bathe in that hypocrisy if you want to, I'd just like to hear how the debate went. Go ahead, bathe.

SECOND AMENDMENT
During the final presidential debate on Wednesday night, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told another unbelievable whopper about the country’s gun laws. In her answer to a question about her views on gun rights, Clinton said she opposed the Supreme Court’s Heller decision, which recognized the constitutional right for individuals to own and carry firearms, because it was about whether toddlers should have guns. Yes, she said that. It’s a lie so absurd that I honestly don’t know where to begin, but I’ll give it a shot: No, the Heller decision was not about toddlers…..

ARTICLES
Victor Davis Hansen makes the case for Trump:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich categorized Donald Trump's 'rigged election' claims as a "coup d'etat" against fourteen million citizens who voted for Donald Trump in the Republican primary committed by "20 media executives." "This is about last Friday when the networks spent 23 minutes on the Trump tape," he said. "And less than one minute -- all three networks combined -- less than one minute on the Hillary Clinton’s secret speeches that were being revealed on WikiLeaks." "I think it’s amazing that Trump is as close as he is right now, considering the one-sidedness of the news media barrage……the best description of it is by Barry Castleman in his blog where he said this is a coup d’etat. Fourteen million citizens and private ballots picked Donald Trump, 20 TV executives have decided to destroy him……..I think that without the unending one-sided assault of the news media, Trump would be beating Hillary by 15 points.
