THIS WEEK’S NEWS
Trump leads the Real Clear Politics average of national
polls by two-tenths of a percentage point. Trump leads the ABC News/Washington
Post poll by two points, the Rasmussen poll by five points and the Fox News
poll by three points; he trails the CBS News/New York Times poll by six points
and the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll by three points.
The Republican Party is racing to build a presidential
campaign for Donald Trump. The presumptive GOP nominee enters the general
election with an organization even thinner than Mitt Romney´s four years ago.
Trump won the primary by dominating media coverage. He didn´t bother to develop
a ground game or data analytics program, believing those modern tools
overrated. The Republican National Committee is filling the void.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) endorses Trump for
president, calls him “disruptive” in a good way.
Sen. Sanders defeated Hillary Clinton by 12 points in the
Oregon Democratic primary…..not only did Oregon reject Clinton at this late
stage, but Kentucky, viewed by most as a relatively safe state for her, very
nearly went to Sanders as well.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald on Monday
compared the length of time veterans wait to receive health care at the VA to
the length of time people wait for rides at Disneyland, and said his agency
shouldn´t use wait times as a measure of success because Disney doesn´t either.
A new illegal immigrant detention facility opening in
November will house 700 detainees, “including a separate 36 bed unit for
transgender immigrants.”

COLUMN OF THE WEEK
Charlie Daniels: “Our
Government Has Grown Too Big and Too Cumbersome”
Recently, I have
been thinking about how much life has changed in the last three quarters of a
century and how much of that change is influenced by the bureaucracies and
federal agencies that hold sway over almost every facet of life in America
today.
I have come to
the conclusion that we live in a self-imposed system of government that has
grown so big and so incompetently operated, that the overlapping entities are
literally tripping over each other's feet.
Rather than being
a government by the people and for the people, it comes off as a cold,
impersonal monolith. It’s so complicated, so overwhelming, with so many moving
parts and so many departments that dealing with them on a one-on-one basis is
such an exasperating experience that to even open a letter from any branch of
government is a near traumatic experience.
Our lives are
regulated, observed, subsidized and intimidated by so many government agencies
that it's impossible to keep up.
They are the
masters of overkill, they intentionally complicate their dealings with the
public to the point of frustration. For instance, trying to fill out a tax
return can bring on anxiety attacks, and understanding federal regulations is
tantamount to deciphering advanced calculus.
There are so many
ways to break the law without even knowing it. You can violate federal
environmental laws by removing a plant from your own land that you had no way
of knowing had been put on the endangered species list.
The federal
government can come and take away your property and pay you less than it's
worth claiming public domain. They can garnish your wages for back taxes before
ever proving in court that you even owe them. They can hold you in jail
indefinitely claiming you're a threat to national security before you've even
been charged with any crime.
Our government
has grown too big and too cumbersome for its own good, or more importantly, “We
the People's” good. How many politicians have we elected who have promised to
reduce the size of government and done absolutely nothing about it. And yet, we
reelect their kind again and again.
Our federal
government is now the world's largest debtor, with a national debt approaching
twenty trillion dollars, with no plan in place to eradicate or even reduce it. According
to the Census Bureau, nearly half the people in America are receiving some kind
of remittance from the government.
The unemployment
numbers are misleading because they count part-time jobs as if they were full
employment.
Our foreign
policy is basically non-existent.
Our military is
the smallest in personnel and equipment that it's been in over a half century.
Big government
does not translate into better efficiency or more national strength or a better
life for its citizens. It is nothing more than a large unwieldy machine,
requiring more and more taxpayer money, acquiring more and more debt, a
bloated, self-proliferating conundrum; confusing, disordered and completely
unsustainable.
The writing is on
the wall. What do you think? Pray for our troops and the peace of Jerusalem. God

tweets that she will vote for him because Hillary "talks to black people

The global warming alarmists tell us to trust the science.
But when it comes to climate studies, there’s less science and more accounting
going on there. Computer models have an important place in science. They are
useful in helping us understand our world, but models themselves aren’t
science. Encyclopaedia Britannica says “scientific models at best are
approximations of the objects and systems that they represent,” but “they are
not exact replicas.” In the case of climate models, they are not even close to

cities,” the idea seemed a bit far-fetched. A new survey shows that he was on
to something. A Pew Research Center survey released late last week took an
in-depth look into the “sharing economy” to see how many people are using it,
and how they feel about government efforts to regulate these hugely popular new
services. What did it find? Ride-sharing users are far younger than the

It’s a lie often repeated that Obama was a Constitutional
law professor at the University of Chicago law school. In fact, he was just a
lecturer there for a short time who never much impressed his colleagues.
Watching this administration in action one wonders what, if anything, he
understands about the Constitution at all. His is an administration based on
flouting it.
